About

My name is Mike DeGuzman and I play keyboards for Savannah, GA based reggae/rock group, PASSAFIRE. Through this blog, I will be documenting my tour experiences along with other music projects and music related events. To all friends & family, thank you for your continued support through my musical endeavors!

My Opportunity

A lot of people ask me how I linked up with Passafire, so here’s how it all started…

A while back, I posted a piano cover of Down Down Down by The Expendables on YouTube. Little did I know that their manager, Donovan, would reach out to give me props on it. Through this, I was given the opportunity to open The Expendables’ set on 01.21.10 @ The House of Blues in Chicago and play a few songs with them on 05.01.10 @ The Rave in Milwaukee. The Chicago show was The Expendables’ headlining Winter Blackout Tour with supporting bands Passafire, Iration, Pour Habit, & Roots Down Below. It was at this point when I first met the guys from Passafire. I sent the Passafire crew my cover of “Casting of the Cares” and they eventually came to the decision that I was well-suited to fill in on keyboards while Adam took time off the road.

After completing the winter 2011 tour, I was given the offer to join the band full-time. I gladly accepted the offer and am now an official member of Passafire. I look forward to meeting a lot of new friends and connections across the country.

hey i came across a youtube video that had a link to this blog. It was a cover of “don’t touch my stuff” by zach gill played by ted and will. I was just wondering if there was any way i could get the chord progression. i cant find it anywhere, can’t figure it out and i would like to try to do something different with it on the ukulele. If you could it would mean a lot to me.

Hi, My name is Megan, and I have a special request for you. I’m getting married in just over three weeks and my fiance and I have been taking WAY too long pick the song for our ceremony. Last night we came across your medley of MGMT’s Kids and Electric Feel and it is just PERFECT for us! My fiance’s brother has offered to play piano for us already, but we had him listen to the song last night and he said without sheet music there’s no way he could learn it by ear in time. But its just so perfect that I will do what it takes to make that our song 🙂 So i wondered if you DO have sheet music, is there ANY way possible i could get that from you? Or, if i could get the recording and try to edit it (i would use the first two and half minutes about, but minus one full verse from the Kids) Please respond asap if there’s any way you would be willing to help me out. The rendition is simply genius and we’d both be ecstatic!

Another sheet music request: I would love the chance to learn your rendition of 311’s Amber. I can pay you for your time and effort in order to send me that sheet music. It’s sincerely bloody brilliant. Please get back to me when you have a moment. Thanks.

    Christian
